Outdoor Parish Feast Day Mass

Fr. Frank delivers a homily in front of a beautiful evergreen background at the outdoor parish feast day mass, August 25, 2019.

Last Sunday, parishioners of St. Augustine's gathered for a special outdoor mass, celebrating (a few days early) the feast of St. Augustine. Since Fr. Frank returned to the parish, the outdoor mass has been held 3 of the past 4 years, weather permitting.

As Fr. Frank began his homily, he noted that the people have been streaming in since mass began. He was very pleased to see how many came out for the mass Sunday AM, so many that extra chairs had to be brought out to accommodate the growing numbers. The weather was beautiful, clear skies, sunny and a cool breeze from time to time. Fr. Frank brought out a beautiful, wooden carved statue of St. Augustine for the altar.

One of the children from our Syrian families was especially recognized for his 10th birthday. Parishioners sang happy birthday to him after Fr. Frank gave him a birthday gift.

Since the outdoor mass was held on the last Sunday of the month, the regularly scheduled Coffee Sunday followed the mass, complete with birthday cake for the birthday boy (seen above).

Thanks to all those who were able to make it and stay tuned for updates on next year's outdoor feast day mass, which will be forthcoming in Spring 2020.
